I slammed my door shut and cried. "I'll never be happy or part of a team again," I thought. </li><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">When I got so close but ultimately rejected for a scholarship in college, I felt like I'd been sentenced to mediocrity for life.</li><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">When I didn't receive a single job offer from the companies I wanted to work for after college, I felt like I had no talent... I had nothing to offer, and I'd be that way for life. </li><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">When my first business failed in 2020, and my not-so-uplifting coach at the time said "if you're not willing to do whatever it takes to succeed in this, it means you don't actually care about the freedom or the life you say you want to give your family," I felt like I was destined to be a failure to my wife and kids. </li><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">And when one of my team members berated me for 90 minutes about my lack of trustworthiness as a leader just 3 months after I became CEO of Power Selling Pros, it felt like no one would ever want to follow me. </li></ul>Am I the only one?...&nbsp;Have you ever had these moments!?...&nbsp;Luckily, bad news does not mean bad life...&nbsp;My son is living proof:&nbsp;When our 3rd child, a baby boy, was born in 2021, the doctors told us he had two problems: <ol><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">His lungs were too weak, so he needed to stay in the NICU for seven days until he could breathe on his own</li><li style="margin: 15px 0px;">He had an under-active thyroid, and he'd be at risk of brain damage if we didn't act fast</li></ol>When you have a new baby, you're vulnerable. You're tired. You're emotional...&nbsp;So when Doctors give you "bad news," it actually feels like the end of the world.&nbsp;I remember calling my parents and my Bishop in tears. I didn't know what it meant. I didn't know how serious it was. And, well, let's just say not all Doctors have great bedside manner, so the communication on their end wasn't exactly reassuring. &nbsp;After some testing, our little boy was prescribed a thyroid medication to supplement his hormone levels. They assured us it would help him live a normal, healthy life.&nbsp;But then he had this horrible acid reflux.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even though we were religious about giving him his meds, he threw up multiple times a day. And every drop of his newborn vomit looked like liquid brainpower to me. Like a tiny piece of his future being spilled onto a stained bib.&nbsp;I thought it meant he'd struggle later in life.&nbsp;He's been on his meds ever since. At least, he was, until today...&nbsp;Today, almost three years later, the endocrinologist gave us good news:&nbsp;His thyroid levels are normal on their own. He no longer needs the supplement.&nbsp;He's free. He's happy. He's healthy.&nbsp;I don't know why I'm so emotional about it, but I am. And now you get to read about it. 🤷‍♂️&nbsp;Three years ago I thought bad news meant bad life...&nbsp;But today, I understand that news is just what's new. And the news changes every day.&nbsp;I never became a baseball star. &nbsp;I paid for college with cash, pell grants, and student loans. &nbsp;I became the CEO of my first full-time employer. &nbsp;I started another business that's (so far) a success.&nbsp;And I don't need anyone to tell me if I'm a good leader or not. I only need the satisfaction of doing my personal best to help others. &nbsp;And my family? The only thing that really matters? We're healthy. We're alive. We're responding to the news in our life but we're not reacting to it. &nbsp;And I have good news for you:&nbsp;&nbsp;A bad life is a choice. It's more a result of attitude than circumstance.
